Candidate for At Large Director: Sheila A. Grela, ACP
Question: What are three values you think you demonstrate as a leader? Take each trait and explain how that value would add benefit to your service on the NALA Board.
My role as VP of the SD Paralegal Association has been a good fit for my skills, particularly problem-solving. I address the pandemic-caused lack of networking and socializing opportunities for my peers with the "Lunch With Leaders" Zoom meetings. Each week, SDPA collaborates with me to provide lively, informative conversations with prominent industry leaders. The interview-style format highlights both personal growth and professional development. My questions guide the content in directions that will engage listeners. The inspirations, tips, and narratives generated by the discussions fill the gap and unite the audience.
I know that my leadership abilities will enhance the current Board of Directors.
I have been resilient in the face of issues that require me to pivot, change direction, or reimagine the plan. Also, I have been able to react quickly to such things as technical difficulties, fielding audience questions, or even to a last-minute cancelation by a guest speaker. I know that my ability to handle such situations will make me an asset to the NALA team.
My problem-solving abilities, paired with my vision of where the industry is going, allow me to focus on new projects as well as bringing a new perspective to existing team goals.
