Debby Sawyer, ACP is the NALA Region III Director and is a member of the NALA Board of Directors. She has served on the NALA Board of Directors since 2008. She worked as a litigation paralegal for 20+ years prior to transitioning to the federal court system in 2010. Ms. Sawyer is currently employed as a Judicial Assistant to District Judge Aleta A. Trauger in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. She has also worked as a Docket Administrator and backup Courtroom Deputy in this court. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Ms. Sawyer was employed as a Civil Case Manager/Courtroom Deputy to Chief Judge James C. Dever III in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Ms. Sawyer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Management from Regent University and a Paralegal Certificate from Jackson State Community College. She is a member of the Tennessee Paralegal Association where she currently serves as Secretary. Ms. Sawyer has held various leadership positions with her prior paralegal organizations in Virginia and North Carolina. She received her CP in 2004 and her ACP in Trial Practice in 2010.
