This session explores current events, recent trends, and interesting decisions in the area of sports marketing and litigation.  Issues discussed in the course will involve updates concerning the DeFlategate litigation between the National Football League and New England Patriot Quarterback Tom Brady, the NFLPA union’s involvement in the same. In addition, the concussion issues and the pending concussion settlement in the National Football League will be covered, along with drug testing and conduct clause and punishment and the legal effect in the NFL, the EA Sports and NCAA litigation with current and former college athletes and the legal support behind that settlement, from all perspectives. Paralegals will get an interesting “under the helmet” look at how these legal issues actually develop, proceed through litigation and discovery and eventually resolve.
