This on-demand webinar will examine the principles behind the founding of the United States and the way in which those principles are represented in the U.S. Constitution. Based on those principles and on constitutional language, students will explore how government and legal systems function independently and in relation to one another. By the end of the webinar, registrants should be able to:

  • Understand and explain the structure of the court system;
  • Understand how U.S. federalism balances state and federal laws and powers;
  • Understand and utilize concepts of jurisdiction (geographically and otherwise);
  • Anticipate where answers to legal and procedural questions might be found based on jurisdiction or governmental level/entity; and
  • See how legal history and structure can be used to aid in researching, learning, and navigating the law and for purposes of professional certification.
