Job Summary: 

The candidate will be responsible for the continued development, creation and administration of the legal function of StepStone Group LP’s private equity investment program. The candidate will primarily be responsible for drafting and negotiating investment documentation relating to private equity investments.

  • Complete subscription and related documents for private fund commitments, co- investments and secondary acquisitions;
  • Conduct reviews of regulatory correspondence in connection with the preparation of legal reviews for inclusion in Investment Committee Memorandum;
  • Use previously created templates to create standard legal documentation in Microsoft Word for regulatory and state filings (e.g., SEC filings; entity formation);
  • Create structure charts for proposed transactions and existing investments using Microsoft PowerPoint;
  • Maintain spreadsheets recording and updating legal and compliance documentation (quarterly and annual attestations, brokerage statement review, compliance training completion, etc.) in Microsoft Word or Excel;
  • Organize, prioritize and appropriately handle legal documents and sensitive, confidential information and ensure action/attention required is addressed; and Notarize legal and other documents.
Requirements or Qualifications: 
- Significant prior paralegal experience in the fund formation practice group (private equity, hedge fund, real estate private equity) of a law firm or in-house asset management firm legal department is required; -The candidate must be a highly organized individual who is detail-oriented, logical, able to multi-task and committed to meeting deadlines with limited supervision; -He/she must possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written form and demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers, copiers, electronic document databases and filing systems software and other office equipment; -High level reasoning and ability to make common sense decisions tempered by knowledge, often under difficult time constraints; -Individual should be a college graduate or equivalent and must be authorized to work in the US.
