Job Summary: 

The Oklahoma Guardian Ad Litem Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing free guardian ad litem attorney services for children in low income families.  The Project Coordinator is responsible for general paralegal and legal secretarial duties, including, but not limited to:

  • providing administrative support for up to four staff attorneys
  • handling outreach for the Institute
  • referral information to victims for counseling and support groups
  • financial screening for qualification for services by the Institute
  • assists as a liaison between the Institute and the non-profit community
  • assists in the recruitment of attorney and non-attorney volunteers
  • assists with the coordination of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) pertaining to domestic violence and guardian ad litem issues
  • assists in the coordination of outreach with the legal community, as well as various local bar associations around the state
  • fields inquiries from the public regarding the Institute
  • schedules and attends appointments with staff attorney(s)
  • manages calendar for staff attorney(s)
  • assists with special projects and events
  • assists with fundraising
  • screens for domestic violence and victimizations
  • assists victims with Victim’s Compensation Fund
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements or Qualifications: 
Good communication and verbal skills. Good grammar and spelling. Be able to proficiently work with Word and Excel. Be able to take instruction. Work well with others. Must have excellent attention to detail, be able to follow directions well, have outstanding communication skills, and a commitment to service.
