The County Attorney's Office is searching for someone who is customer-focused, takes pride in their work, has an eye for detail, and believes in a positive attitude to join their Transactional Group  as a Transactional Paralegal.  Flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork are critical for this role. Under minimal supervision, this candidate will perform paralegal and secretarial work to support the contractual and other transactional caseload for the County Attorney's Office.

The full salary range for this position is $47,919.25 - $71,878.87 annually, however the hiring salary range is $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 annually as posted under the position title.

Essential Duties:
This position involves assisting multiple attorneys in all aspects of legal work for a transactional caseload which includes but is not limited to:

Preparing drafts of various transactional documents
Monitoring contracts and leases for expirations and renewals
Drafting resolutions and routing documents
Preparing and organizing documents for real estate closings
Performing legal research
Maintaining electronic files
Work also involves performing day-to-day administrative functions for the office as needed.   
Duties assigned may vary according to specific needs of the office or the allocation of the workload.
The employee has direct contact with County departments and outside parties so you must have strong interpersonal skills. The position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work as a team as well as work independently to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. The workload is almost entirely electronic, using Time Matters, Hot Docs, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, and multi-function copiers.  

The employee must be able to multitask in a cubicle environment under deadline pressure. We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude who will take ownership of and pride in their work and be willing to help troubleshoot problems of any size. 

Requirements or Qualifications: 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
A two-year associate's degree or paralegal certificate, and one year work related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of work-related experience is preferred.
  • Excellent typing and data entry skills
  • Sophisticated computer skills
  • Attention to detail and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience drafting contracts
  • Prior experience with IT contracts
  • Prior experience with real estate closings and documents relating to real property transfers including title commitments, easements, deeds, deeds of trusts, notes, and covenants
  • Prior experience working in a law office or legal department
  • Prior experience with Human Service grants, including but not limited to CDBG, HOME, Work Force, TANF etc.   

Hours of employment will be 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. 

Offer of employment contingent on criminal history check and education verification.

Salary is based on certification, education and experience.

Additional Information
Must have excellent typing and data entry skills, sophisticated computer skills, attention to detail and deadlines, and must be proficient in Time Matters within two months of hire date.

Must have valid driver's license. If you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
