Equal Opportunity Employer. Summary of Position: The paralegal researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys. Independently researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals for review, approval, and use by attorney. May manage work assignments for multiple paralegals and/or is a key client contact. Essential Functions: These are the essential functions of the position. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodations: Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters; Summarizes complex legal documents; Organizes and indexes complex case files; Determines and calendars deadlines; Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision Files pleadings with court clerk; Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaints; Drafts a wide variety of legal documents; and Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file.
Requirements or Qualifications:
6+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice. Paralegal certification/degree from accredited college or university. Must have experience with trial preparation software, including Trial Director and Sanction. Experience in preparing attorneys for trials, arbitrations and mediations with little or no supervision. Experience with at-trial participation to assist attorneys during trial proceedings. Must have experience preparing subpoenas (including calculation of all deadlines) and privilege logs. Proficient in all Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Lexis-Nexis, WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems. We are not working with outside recruiters for this position.
