Job Summary: 

Do you have the passion and commitment to begin a career in elder law and services? A small, boutique DC elder law firm is looking for the right person to join a team that provides life care planning and management and other services to an active elder population. The position would be that of a paralegal who would be trained in providing services to a challenging community as well as managing intakes and providing assistance in all areas of the firm’s practice. The right candidate must have a solid work ethic, a commitment to learn and a good sense of humor. It would be instructive to include a cover letter that contains paragraph or two as to any history to demonstrate a commitment or passion for any activity or cause.

Summary of Position:

The LCP Paralegal will supply support and assistance, such as legal research, draft documents, document review, outreach to clients and 3rd part providers, scheduling, coordination of life care planning needs, and additional administrative duties to support the LCPM Attorney and others as required.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining assigned active case list;
  • Performs legal research as required;
  • Draft and review documents; editing documents as required, coordinates appropriate documents with LCPM Attorney;
  • Communicates and builds relationships with 3rd party providers such as but not limited to: realtors, insurance companies, physicians, life insurance providers etc. to obtain appropriate information and to schedule required meetings;
  • Provide timely and thorough follow up with clients. 
  • Provide continual communication and regular updates on the status; answering questions and providing next steps, ensure understanding of client goals;
  • Responsible for client information input into database;
  • Administrative duties such as but not limited to: answering phones, scheduling meetings and appointments, scanning, coordination of witness and notary; preparation of receipts and original folders, creation of binders, package delivery, ordering supplies, greeting clients, etc.;
  • Responsible for obtaining and reviewing information such as but not limited to: bank statements, tax returns, insurance policies, bills in order to create asset inventories. Analyze information to formulate protection ideas and edit asset protection plans.
