Job Summary: 

Small personal injury firm seeking a legal assistant/paralegal to assist attorney in all stages of litigation matters.  This candidate should feel comfortable in preparing legal pleadings; managing the firm calendar; requesting and reviewing medical records; preparing discovery; preparing for trial, mediation, and depositions; drafting legal communication, etc. 

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Ability to multitask in order to support multiple cases simultaneously  
  • Proficient in managing firm calendar and scheduling deadlines and attorney appointments
  • Managing the flow of pre-litigation and litigation files 
  • Directing support staff to help with the file flow
  • Skilled with drafting legal pleadings, e-filing and e-serving, preparing discovery, requesting and reviewing medical records, redaction of documents, mediation and trial preparation
  • Must present professionally in appearance and demeanor
  • Skilled and experienced in attending trial with attorneys
  • Positive and energetic person who likes to be part of a team in the workplace!

What you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Reviewing many medical records
  • Drafting legal pleadings
  • Drafting discovery requests and responses
  • Client contact to gather information and provide status updates
  • Opposing counsel contact to set hearings and depositions, request discovery extensions, etc.
  • Insurance adjuster contact concerning claim status
  • Drafting legal correspondence
  • Scheduling case deadlines and attorney meetings and keeping up with the attorney’s calendar
  • Other tasks as needed

Requirements or Qualifications: 
  • 5+ years experience in personal injury litigation preferred
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details are a must
  • Ability to multitask in order to support multiple cases simultaneously  
  • Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately
  • Ability to communicate proficiently, verbally and in writing
  • Skilled with drafting legal pleadings, e-filing and e-serving, preparing discovery, requesting and reviewing medical records, redaction of documents, mediation and trial preparation
  • Skilled and experienced in attending trial with attorneys
  • Positive and energetic person who likes to be part of a team in the workplace!
