Job Summary: 

Prominent DC law firm is seeking a Government Relations Specialist to assist members of the Government Relations team with various administrative matters.  This position will provide support to a former U.S. Senator with a growing practice.  The primary role will be to manage the calendar, coordinate activities, conduct research and perform other administrative duties as assigned.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage and update schedule for Government Relations practitioner; including scheduling appointments, speaking engagements, and events
  • Plan and schedule legislative and agency meetings for clients
  • Coordinate political fundraisers and other events hosted by the Firm
  • Coordinate client visits to the Firm and on the Hill as well as client development activities 
  • Maintain up-to-date list of development projects and contacts
  • Respond to client priorities when Senator is traveling or otherwise unavailable
  • Manage the influx of all correspondence, both electronic and paper
  • Conducts a variety of research regarding current legislative policies and changes on a as need basis
  • May attend hearings to take notes and prepare reports
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread daily time entries as directed by assignments; may help create draft time entries from calendars and notes
  • Work closely with accounting, complete clerical procedures relating to billing for clients; may assist in collection efforts
  • Coordinate travel arrangements with travel agency; process travel and other reimbursements 
  • Other administrative duties such as preparing memos and correspondence, answering telephone, and creating and maintaining files
