Candidate Question: What are three values you think you demonstrate as a leader? Take each trait and explain how that value would add benefit to your service on the NALA Board.
As I see it, there are the three “Cs” that I bring to the NALA Board:
Commitment: I have actively served on the NALA Board and its Committees since 2013 because of my belief that our profession and all of us individually benefit from a vibrant, progressive organization. One of the most fulfilling opportunities I have had during my years of NALA service was to co-chair the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
Curiosity: I like to ask both WHY and WHY NOT. I believe a Board member must seek answers and not necessarily accept the status quo, but rather consider all angles to make informed decisions.
Courage: As a Board member, I have always been prepared to raise difficult issues and make difficult decisions, and then to back the actions of the Board as a whole. NALA is a large association responsible for thousands of members and many employees. A Board member must acknowledge and accept this tremendous responsibility to be fully effective.
Commitment, Curiosity, and Courage. That is what I have brought, and ask for your vote in continuing to provide, to the NALA Board.
