Candidate for At Large Director: Richard Hahn, ACP
Question: What are three values you think you demonstrate as a leader? Take each trait and explain how that value would add benefit to your service on the NALA Board.
The three values of a leader that I believe I demonstrate are:
Vision: I believe I demonstrate the leadership value of vision by presenting new and unique ideas to the Board of Directors. I also believe I demonstrate this leadership value by exploring new ways that projects and tasks can be done and while honoring tradition not relying on the saying or phrase “this is the way it has always been done”.
Integrity: I believe I demonstrate the leadership value of integrity (which could also be called ethics) by being open and honest with other members of the Board Directors and other organizations that I belong to. Also, if I am not sure what to do regarding a problem or an issue, I research that problem or issue and I ask people who I respect trust for their opinions and recommendations, and this usually leads me to what I believe is the correct decision regarding that issue or problem.
Honesty: I believe I demonstrate the leadership value of honesty by listening to everyone and respecting their views even if I disagree with them on an issue and if I do disagree with them on, I politely tell them I disagree with them and give that person an opportunity person an opportunity to change my mind be asking questions I have regarding that issue. I also believe I demonstrate this leadership value by openly admitting to a mistake I have made instead of trying to pretend that mistake never happened.
