Risa E. Harrell, CP, FRP, has worked in the legal field for more than 15 years and is currently employed at the law firm of Marlowe & Weatherford, P.A., in Winter Park, Florida. Inspired by her deaf brother, Risa is an advocate for the Deaf and speaks American Sign Language – which she learned as a child. She has interpreted in a variety of settings and has been recognized by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority for her Deaf outreach at Orlando International Airport.
She is a founding member and past chairman of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Paralegal Committee; and a member of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and the National Association for Legal Assistants (NALA). She has also served as an advisory board member for the Paralegal Studies Programs at ITT Technical Institute and Keiser University, both in Orlando. Her company, Advancing Knowledge, LLC, provides tutoring services and exam preparation (especially for students pursuing national paralegal certification).
Risa is a graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in News Reporting from the College of Journalism and Communications and is a Life Member of the University of Florida Alumni Association.
