_________
Note: In recent years, there has been some discussion about the
choice of terms "legal assistant" or "paralegal." In many states, these
terms are defined as identical terms, although one term may be preferred
depending on one's geographical location. In 2003, NALA provided the CP
designation to those who prefer the term "paralegal" instead of "legal
assistant." The CLA credential has been in the legal market place since
the 1970's and is widely recognized; however, those who choose to use the
credential CP to designate their national certification are encouraged to
do so. |
