Job Title: Conflicts Analyst
Reports to: Manager of Conflicts & Records
Job Summary:
Responsible for conflicts clearance review and analysis for firm wide new business and lateral hires, working directly with attorneys and the Firm’s Ethics Advisory Committee to identify and resolve potential conflict of interest issues. This position requires a strong knowledge of legal principles defining and regulating attorney conflicts and significant interaction with attorneys and Conflicts Specialist team. PLEASE NOTE: Shifts may vary between 8-4, 9-5 and 11-7 based on business need.
Major Responsibilities:
Analyze complex conflict report search results and identify potential conflict of interest issues.
Use internal and external databases to conduct factual research relating to potential conflict issues, including determining the status of relevant matters, obtaining more information on the nature of an entity’s role in a particular matter, and researching corporate affiliations.
Engage in efficient communication with attorneys to gather information and/or clarification on potential issues, including elevating issues to and working directly with the members of the Firm’s Ethic Advisory Committee when necessary.
Clearly communicate with attorneys concerning issues identified in conflict report and document the resolution of conflicts issues.
Provide assistance with waiver and engagement letter exemplars; review waiver and engagement letters received from clients to ensure that required conditions have been met.
Oversee ethical wall implementation program.
Assist Manager of Conflicts & Records with additional administrative support to comply with risk management initiatives related to client quality and comprehensive recordkeeping on all new engagements.
Qualifications:
ABA-accredited JD strongly preferred.
5+ years experience or training in law firm conflicts and/or new business department required.
Prior experience using automated conflicts and/or workflow system preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to converse informatively and efficiently with attorneys about conflicts issues.
Strong analytical skills and research abilities.
Knowledge of LegalKEY a plus.
