Limited Practice Rule for Nonlawyers Approved June 15
June 15, 2012 Washington Supreme Court Order #25700-A-1005
Consistent with GR 25 (the Supreme Court rule establishing the Practice of Law Board), the rule establishes a framework for the licensing and regulation of non-attorneys to engage in discrete activities that currently fall within the definition of the "practice of law" (as defined by GR 24) and which are currently subject to exclusive regulation and oversight by this Court. The rule itself authorizes no one to practice. It simply establishes the regulatory framework for the consideration of proposals to allow non-attorneys to practice.

Advertising in Facts & Findings
|
Advertising in Facts & Findings puts your message where it is seen by paralegals who are passionate about their profession and are always looking for ways to improve. Below is information about advertising in the bi-monthly journal, as well as opportunities in feature issues, and submitting articles for consideration by the Facts & Findings Editorial Board. Click here to download this information in pdf format.
Display Advertising

Standard display advertising is available for vendors seeking access to the paralegal market. NALA is the nation’s leading association for paralegals, representing more than 18,000 paralegals through individual membership and approximately 90 state and local affiliated paralegal associations. There are 7,000 subscribers to the magazine, and an additional 500 issues are sent as promotions for each issue of Facts & Findings. Members and subscribers are paralegals, legal administrators, legal educators and others concerned with the paralegal career field. They often are authorized to purchase or recommend purchases of products and services for their offices. “Slick” production values place Facts & Findings in the top quality magazine category, yet advertisers can enjoy this opportunity-rich environment at rates well below typical display advertising in other magazines.
Facts & Findings is published bi-monthly, 4 color. Click here for the currrent rate sheet and ad specs. This information includes the editorial calendar for 2013.
Digital Format of Facts & Findings
Facts & Findings is provided in digital format for all subscribers. A link to the current issue is sent to subscribers in advance of mailing the printed publication. This is to enhance access and readability of the magazine, but it is not intended to replace the print version. The best news for advertisers is that links placed in your ads will take readers of the digital version directly to your Websites from their desktop computer. There is no additional charge for live links in the digital format of the magazine!
New Product Announcements For Advertisers
.jpg)
As an advertiser in Facts & Findings, you would be eligible to be included in a New Products announcement. Facts & Findings frequently receives press releases about new products and product updates. The “New Products” page has been created to showcase these announcements. This new section of the magazine is exclusively for advertisers and exhibitors at an upcoming NALA convention at no additional cost. It is a way for advertisers to expound upon new products or developments with more text and graphics. The ¼-page ads may use any combination of graphics and text. Submissions will not be edited but will be labeled as an “Advertisement.” If you are not a current advertiser, we also offer this opportunity to vendors who have contracted for future advertising in Facts & Findings.
Deadlines: Product news placement deadlines are the same as for the display advertisements. The size of the announcement is 3-5/8” X 4-7/8” and other specs are the same as for display ads.
Annual Vendor Directory - May/June
.jpg)
The May/June issue features an “Annual Vendor Directory” offering vendors two-page spreads to describe their technological wares or services. Any combination of graphics and text is accepted. Submissions will be labeled “Advertisement.” Listings should include:
• Description of products and services
• Pricing and how to order
• Future products/services
• Contact information
Our expectation is that readers will keep this vendors’ directory issue handy for reference and will look here first when seeking to develop a relationship with a vendor. The Facts & Findings subscriber list is nationwide.
Details: The cost of a 2-page spread is $2,500. A 20 percent discount is available to exhibitors signed up for the upcoming NALA Annual Convention in Omaha. Deadline for receipt of camera-ready pages is April 1. Specifications are the same as those described for display advertisements.
From the Editorial Board
A Note about Articles Submitted by Vendors
.jpg)
Facts & Findings welcomes educational articles by all vendors. Articles must not have been previously published in publications serving the legal market. All articles are reviewed and selected for publication by the Facts & Findings Editorial Board. The Board selects articles on the basis of timeliness, appeal to paralegals, and demonstration of how the product or service provides solutions to problems encountered by paralegals such as last-minute filings or failure of equipment. The article should also discuss how the use of a product or service increases the value of paralegal services to firms or employers. If an article is selected for publication, the Editorial Board will schedule the issue in which the article will appear. Scheduling includes the article’s fit with other articles in a particular issue. The Editorial Board will also communicate with authors about any revisions needed to conform to Facts & Findings style and space considerations.
Click here to review Editorial Guidelines for articles. If you would like to submit an article for consideration by the Facts & Findings Editorial Board, send the article and a description of the author to NALA Headquarters, Marge Dover, CAE, mdover@nala.org.
