Continuing Education

NALA has produced continuing education materials for paralegals for over 30 years. From the release of the first NALA Manual for Legal Assistants in the 70's, to today's web-based Advanced Paralegal Certification programs, NALA has been dedicated to providing the best in CLE for all paralegals.

Continuing education credit for Certified Paralegals is available for most NALA CLE programs. Consult the individual program description for details.

Continuing Education

Continuing education for all paralegals is NALA's mission. This section provides information about the various programs of NALA. All continuing education programs are available to all who want to participate. NALA members receive significant discounts off registration fees and books.

Continuing Education Council

All NALA continuing education programs are overseen by the association's Continuing Education Council. The council is composed entirely of active members of NALA. The council also works with Headquarters staff, professional writers, and others in planning and developing educational programs. The chair of the Continuing Education Council is a member of the NALA Board of Directors.

Types of Programs

NALA CLE programs consist of live educational, online self study programs, and publications.

Web based programs:

NALA Campus LIVE! - Live web seminars are offered in two sessions each year, February-May and August-November. Each session features about 30 on-line seminars. The level of instruction varies - we try to offer programs for novice to advanced level paralegals. Each seminar is repeated within one year and more often, based on demand. Some of the sessions are recorded for those unable to participate in the live program.
NALA Campus Self Study Program - These programs use the same technical platform as the NALA Advanced Paralegal Certification programs. They are available on a 24/7 basis. Programs feature instruction much like a slide presentation with text, an audio recording of the text, and tests to determine understanding of the material. These are terrific programs for Certified Paralegal exam preparation, and regular CLE.

Annual Convention Educational Program - Offered each July
Certified Paralegal Short Course - An intensive program for Certified Paralegal exam review.

Publications

NALA publishes the NALA Manual for Paralegals, and the CP Study Guide and Mock Exam, through Cengage Publishing. In addition, NALA publishes the bi-monthly journal, Facts & Findings. What makes NALA publications unique is that they are developed by experienced paralegals - those who actually know what it is like in the work place. The NALA books are described in this section, with order information.
