Continuing Education

NALA has produced continuing education materials for paralegals for over 30 years. From the release of the first NALA Manual for Legal Assistants in the 70's, to today's web-based Advanced Paralegal Certification programs, NALA has been dedicated to providing the best in CLE for all paralegals.

Continuing education credit for Certified Paralegals is available for most NALA CLE programs. Consult the individual program description for details.

Limited Practice Rule for Nonlawyers Approved June 15

June 15, 2012 Washington Supreme Court Order #25700-A-1005 Consistent with GR 25 (the Supreme Court rule establishing the Practice of Law Board), the rule establishes a framework for the licensing and regulation of non-attorneys to engage in discrete activities that currently fall within the definition of the "practice of law" (as defined by GR 24) and which are currently subject to exclusive regulation and oversight by this Court. The rule itself authorizes no one to practice. It simply establishes the regulatory framework for the consideration of proposals to allow non-attorneys to practice.

2013 NALA Annual Convention, Institutes, and Exhibition

Message from the NALA President

The NALA convention brings together paralegals from all across the country—from paralegals experiencing their first convention to seasoned paralegals who have been coming back year after year. You will meet paralegals who will inspire you, paralegals working in your specialty area and paralegals who will become your friends, as well as have the opportunity to learn from attorneys and other experts in various fields of law.

Year after year NALA’s primary goal has been to help paralegals maintain their professional status. This year is no exception. We have seven remarkable institutes for you to choose from: Essential Skills, Insurance Defense, Employment and Human Resources, Technology in the Law Office, Estate Administration, Criminal Law and Procedure, and e-Discovery. We will also learn valuable information from our own members through the Member Exchange and the Affiliates Exchange.

For those of you who are regular convention attendees, please note that we will conclude the convention following the installation of officers on Friday evening.  The educational schedule will remain the same, but there will not be any Saturday sessions.

Please mark your calendar for July 10-12, 2013 and start to plan now to attend convention. Look over this brochure and choose the educational sessions that will benefit you the most. I am proud and honored that I have this opportunity to represent NALA as its President as we once again offer high quality continuing education to all paralegals.

See you in Portland!
Ann L. Atkinson, ACP
NALA President
